FRIED FOOD MAKES YOU FAT
"Intake of fried foods is associated with obesity in the cohort of Spanish adults from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition," Guallar-Castillon P, Rodriguez-Artalejo F, et al, Am J Clin Nutr, 2007; 86(1): 198-205.
This Spanish study looked at 33,542 Spanish subjects aged 29-69 years. Analysis showed that higher intake of fried food was associated with an increased risk of obesity, both general and central in men and in women.
Dietary intake was assessed by a diet history questionnaire. Using statistical analysis to exclude other causes, men with the highest level of fried food intake showed a 26% increased risk of general obesity and women showed a 25% increased risk of general obesity, compared to men and women at the lowest level of fried food intake. Additionally, among men, the highest level of fried food intake was associated with a 17% increased risk of central obesity, compared to the lowest level. Similarly, in women, the highest level of fried food intake was associated with a 27% increased risk of central obesity, compared to the lowest level.
In other words, eating fired foods makes you obese all over your body, and also at your waist. Obesity is a known risk factor for heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer, and other disease. It's simple, to avoid these disease avoid fried foods altogether.
